USCCA Sponsors “National Train A Teacher Day” This Saturday
Nationwide Training & Education Campaign Aims to Help Teachers Better Protect Schools & Students Ahead of the New School Year |
West Bend, WI – This Saturday, July 20th is the second annual “National Train a Teacher Day” (NTATD) in which thousands of school teachers and administrators across the country will be offered free self-defense training by Certified Instructors and Training Counselors. The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), which provides education, training and self-defense protection to more than 300,000 responsible American gun owners across the country, is an official sponsor of this national event which aims to empower educators across the country with the training and tools they need to defend themselves in the case of a criminal attack.

·If you are a member of the media who would like to attend and report on a training class in your area, please contact the USCCA at press@uscca.com
National Train a Teacher Day is a nationwide effort to empower and educate those who are charged with the safety and education of our Children. The USCCA and many others believe the solution to evil acts of violence is found through education, empowerment, the elimination of “gun free zones,” and the free exercise of the rights and liberties of law-abiding Americans.
Each day, more states and school districts are allowing teachers and administrators to exercise their Rights and carry firearms on school campuses to better protect the students in their charge. In Florida, for example, expansion of the armed teacher program was one of several recommendations made by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, which was commissioned after the tragic mass shooting in Parkland in February 2018.
“All too often we see evildoers targeting schools precisely because they know the innocent people inside are often unable to protect themselves,” USCCA President and Founder Tim Schmidt said. “By sponsoring National Train a Teacher Day and providing educational materials to educators, administrators and students, we hope to help change the current status quo and prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. We are proud to sponsor this worthy effort and look forward to continuing the work to ensure our children are protected in the classroom.”
As part of its sponsorship of National Train a Teacher Day, the USCCA is also donating materials used by volunteer USCCA Certified Instructors who are offering free courses for teachers across the country. Donated materials will include Countering The Mass Shooter Threat, Concealed Carry And Home Defense Fundamentals, and Emergency First Aid Fundamentals books and the online e-Learning program that goes with each for teachers participating in the training programs across the country.
“Educators trained in self-defense can be the front lines of defense for our students, because they have the necessary knowledge and experience to protect their classrooms. In an emergency situation, seconds matter,” said Tim Schmidt, President and founder of the USCCA.
The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) provides self-defense education, training and legal protection to responsible American gun owners. The USCCA is the largest and fastest-growing association whose sole focus is the responsibly armed American.
SAF: Prohibitionists Re-Packaging Gun Control as Public Health Crisis
BELLEVUE, WA – The billionaire-supported gun prohibition movement has re-packaged its gun control agenda as a public health crisis, trying to convince the public that the cure to violent crime is to amputate the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.
“They couldn’t sell gun control as crime control,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “Then they couldn’t sell gun control as gun safety. Now they’re trying to convince the public that gun ownership is a public health issue.
“But this isn’t about public health,” he added. “This is all about politics. They’ve repackaged their agenda, but it’s the same old snake oil in a different bottle, and their strategy is right out of the gun control playbook.”
SAF, which hosts Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership as one of its priority projects, said the public should be alarmed at this campaign to equate gun ownership to a communicable disease. The SAF/DRGO project is a counter to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and its Center for Gun Policy and Research. Billionaire anti-gun-rights former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has reportedly donated $2.9 billion to the university over the years.
“What will they do next,” Gottlieb wondered, “attack freedom of speech as a mental health problem if someone openly disagrees with their crusade for public disarmament?
“For the health community to suggest that gun ownership is a public health problem amounts to medical malpractice,” he observed. “And by the way, medical malpractice kills a lot more people than firearms.”
Gottlieb’s warning comes as the Board of Health in King County, Washington is conducting a so-called “gun violence prevention summit” that doesn’t include a single representative from the firearms community. There is no input from firearms retailers, gun range operators or firearms instructors; not a single genuine gun safety expert.
“If there is a national crisis,” Gottlieb said, “trampling the rights of millions of healthy gun owners is not the cure. Demonizing guns and gun owners amounts to practicing voodoo during brain surgery. You’ll make a lot of noise and get plenty of attention, but the patient dies.”

CCRKBA LAUDS REP. MASSIE’S EFFORT TO REPEAL GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONE ACT
BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today lauded Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie for reintroducing legislation aimed at repealing the Gun-Free School Zones Act and replacing it with the far more sensible Safe Students Act.
“The Gun-Free School Zones Act was passed by Congress in 1990, and it’s been a disaster,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “It has not prevented a single tragic school shooting, but instead has given students, teachers, administrators and parents a false sense of security that evaporates the moment some madman ignores the law and invades a school campus to commit mayhem.
“By declaring schools to be ‘gun-free,’ the law has simply turned schools into risk-free, target-rich environments for disturbed people willing to harm innocent children and teens,” he continued.
But Massie’s effort, which follows similar attempts in 2017 and 2018, is a common sense approach to a serious problem. It would allow teachers to carry firearms for self-defense and the defense of students in emergencies. As the congressman noted in a news release, “Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.”
Joining Massie as sponsors of H.R. 3200 are Republican Congressmen Justin Amash (MI), Jody Hice (GA), Jeff Duncan (SC), Matt Gaetz (FL), Louie Gohmert and Brian Babin (TX) and fellow Kentuckian James Comer.
“History has tragically demonstrated that the Gun-Free School Zones Act, which was sponsored by then-Senator Joe Biden, has failed miserably to accomplish its purpose,” Gottlieb stated. “It was a stupid idea then, and it has become a dangerous policy today. The law’s supporters are simply too vain and stubborn to admit they were wrong.
“The time has come to trash this ineffective mandate and make the nation’s schools safe again by allowing teachers and administrators the means to fight back in an emergency,” Gottlieb concluded.
With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.
