TERRORIST AT THE MARKET – COULD YOU TAKE THE SHOT?
We will be continuing the series of discussion, noting the sort of soft target that the terrorist favors. Just last week, the Americans were on the spot and thwarted a terrorist. Today may be our turn. be ready. All one has to do is research the notable events in the past five years to get an idea. But one picture is worth 1,000 words.
Here we have the primary aisle of a market. A shot of about 80 yards.
Picture the scene:
You just finished your Paleo Shopping and have an arm full of eggs, bacon, meat, and veggies. Then you hear the first shot as you turn the corner to get to the check out stand.
The terrorist is down there…somewhere. “Aloha Snackbar” and more shooting. As people clear the aisles in terror you see him. 65 yards away with an AK-47 and a bag full of magazines.
Could you change history with what you have in your belt right now…or are you just another witness?
Oh, and those noble courageous souls that carry “only for their own and their family’s protection (and to hell with everyone else)” and will adamantly remind us of that, I will ask them this –
Your family is not always with you are they? Not at all. They are alone at school, at the store, and when you are at work. When you are with them, you are the protector…understood. And their safety is above all else. But when you are NOT with them, which is a sizeable amount of their day, do you want someone like me to intervene and save them? Or would it be acceptable for me flee to safety and allow them to die at the hands of the terrorist because I am armed “only for my own protection”?
Honest question is it not?

Century Arms Acquires Springfield Sporters

Delray Beach, Fla. –– Century Arms has recently acquired the surplus company Springfield Sporters and all of its assets. We will strive to continue the Rodgers family legacy by offering the same authentic surplus products and the amazing customer service Springfield Sporters has become known for.”

Federal’s New 224 Valkyrie Loads

Federal’s New 224 Valkyrie Loads Stretch Long-Range Horizons

ANOKA, Minnesota – – Federal proudly announces two new flat-shooting Premium 224 Valkyrie loads that deliver precision accuracy at long ranges. Shipments of these Federal Premium 224 Valkyrie cartridges have been delivered to dealers.

In 2018, Federal transformed the MSR 15 platform and broke all boundaries of ballistic performance by introducing the 224 Valkyrie cartridge. Now, it’s giving hunters and shooters new loads that stretch the cartridge’s capabilities even farther: 80.5-grain Gold Medal Berger Hybrid and 78-grain Barnes Triple-Shock X.

Like all 224 Valkyrie offerings, the new loads provide extremely flat trajectories and match accuracy at extreme ranges. They offer significantly less wind drift and drop than other loads in their class, as well as less than half the recoil of cartridges with comparable ballistics.

“The 224 Valkyrie cartridge’s dramatically improved trajectories over all other MSR 15 cartridges, including the 22 Nosler, 223 Rem. and 6.5 Grendel—with less recoil of larger cartridges offering comparable ballistics, such as the 6.5 Creedmoor,” said Federal Centerfire Product Director Mike Holm. “And with the full array of high-performance projectiles available, it’s poised to deliver on virtually every shooter’s needs. For those looking for something new, different and better from their AR-15 platform, the 224 Valkyrie is it.”

Mossberg 6.5 PRC Patriot Predator

NORTH HAVEN, CT – Joining the family of suppressor and optics-ready Patriot Predator bolt-action rifles is the newest cartridge to dominate long-range shooting, the 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge). These purpose-built rifles are housed in a durable Flat Dark Earth (FDE) synthetic stock with matte blue metalwork and TrueTimber® Strata™ camouflaged-synthetic stock with Patriot Brown Cerakote® metal finish and are packed with premium features to deliver tack-driving performance in the 6.5 PRC chambering.

For extended-range performance in the field or at the range, the 6.5 PRC, designed for short-action, bolt-action rifles, offers a balance of velocity and manageable recoil combined with a flat trajectory. Inherently accurate with its exceptional ballistics to beyond 1000 yards, the 6.5 PRC delivers long-range performance in the compact Patriot Predator rifle.

The Patriot Predator features Mossberg’s proven twin-lug, push-feed machined-steel action, fed from a lightweight polymer, flush 4-round box magazine. The standard contour, free-floating 24-inch barrel features a 1:8 twist rate, straight-edge fluting and is threaded (5/8”- 24 threads per inch) for the addition of a suppressor. A protective cap is included. The barrel is constructed of carbon steel and features a matte blue or Patriot Brown Cerakote finish. Every Patriot rifle features Mossberg’s patented LBA™ (Lightning Bolt Action™) user-adjustable trigger with a 2 to 7-pound range of adjustment, to help provide consistent shot-after-shot placement. A top-mounted Picatinny rail provides for ease of mounting and repositioning optics. And completing this performance-driven bolt-action package are oversized bolt handle; spiral-fluted bolt; and sling swivel studs.

The classically-styled stock on the Patriot Predator rifle is well-designed for comfort and reduced felt recoil with its straight comb, rounded edges and raised cheekpiece. Giving the stock a modern feel is textured stippling on the grip and three surface areas of the forend. Choice of FDE or TrueTimber Strata camo-finished stocks provide for greater versatility through multiple seasons and varied terrain. A polymer block insert with integral magazine well provides a simple, but effective bedding platform. Rounding out the stock design is a traditional black rubber recoil pad.

We know the world is a violent place; people cause more than any other thing on earth. Mankind hurts and kills each other by the thousands every year. You and I understand that personal protection is an individual responsibility; it’s up to you to save you and yours. Recent events have reinforced these facts. And, being someone who prepares, your probability of survival – whether it’s through avoidance/escape or force – is high. However, we also need to consider that it’s not our job to save the world, and before you get involved in a violent situation there are three things you need to consider: Do you know the details? Are you going to contribute to solving the problem? Is this worth risking your life?

Do you know the details? In a lot of confrontations, especially those that don’t directly involve you, it’s difficult to separate the good actors from the bad ones. Without knowing the specifics, you can’t and shouldn’t intervene. Plus, if it doesn’t directly affect you and yours the best option is going to be avoidance/escape and notifying the authorities. Avoidance/escape are first; you never know when what seems like an isolated, focused event may bleed over into your “safe” zone. Before becoming entangled in a violent situation ask yourself, “Do I know for sure, regardless of who is doing what, who the good guys and bad guys are?”

Are you going to contribute to solving the problem, or make it more complicated for those who need to be resolving the situation? You hear gunshots echoing somewhere in the large warehouse store, followed by screaming and yelling. You and eleven other concealed carrying law abiding citizens draw weapons and start searching aisles for the source of trouble.

At some point law enforcement officers will arrive on scene. Everyone with a weapon – you and all the other good guys – is going to be considered a threat. The only thing you’ve done is make it more difficult for the professionals to sort things out. Again, unless you’re positive you’re going to influence the outcome, or the threat is directly attacking, avoidance/escape and/or finding a location that’s easily defended is your best option.

Is this worth risking your life? Anytime you get involved in a violent exchange you’re risking serious injury or death. At my age the list of things I’m willing to risk my life for is extremely short. I’m certainly not getting into something over an insult, no matter what they say. What you’re thinking is going to be a verbal exchange turns into a knife attack. I’m not willing to die, or be forced to use my weapon against someone over some piece of property they’re trying to steal. Any of that can be easily replaced. The only reason I’m going to get involved is when it’s absolutely necessary, and in defense against serious bodily harm, injury or death.

There are enormous responsibilities associated with owning/carrying a firearm for defensive use. You go out of your way to be polite with everyone, no matter how big a jerk they are. And, before becoming involved in a violent situation you ask, “Do I know the details? Am I going to contribute to solving the problem? Is this worth risking my life?” If this is the case, then you commit to solving the problem, as efficiently as possible.

LAPD Selects Gold Dot G2, Force on Force Ammunition

Los Angeles Police Department Selects Gold Dot G2 and Force on Force™ As Approved Duty and Training Ammunition

Lewiston, Idaho – The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has recently selected Speer G2 ammunition as the approved duty round in 9mm Luger and 40 S&W and supplying Force on Force marking rounds for training. The contract, with up to seven (7) option years will begin delivery immediately, with the LAPD servicing the department through regional distribution.

“Speer is the number one choice of law enforcement professionals, serving more than eighty percent of law enforcement agencies nationwide” said Jason Vanderbrink, president of Speer. “When it comes to dependability and terminal ballistics, Speer is the gold standard.”

Speer Gold Dot G2 offers the ultimate performance in duty ammunition, thanks to an exclusive nose design. Instead of a large hollow-point cavity, Gold Dot G2 has a shallow dish filled with a high-performance elastomer. On impact, the material is forced into engineered internal fissures to start the expansion process. The result is extremely uniform expansion, better separation of the petals, and more consistent penetration across barrier types through duty handguns.

“When it comes to performance testing, we are putting the most dependable and trusted round on the market for law enforcement, which is the gold standard of bullet terminal performance,” said Handgun Engineering Director Larry Head.

Force on Force™ marker rounds boast superior performance, signature marking and reliable function. Unlike other products on the market, Force on Force training ammunition is lead-free and safe for indoor use. Our special marking agent has an extended shelf-life and leaves a distinctive machine washable mark on target, with lead-free priming making it safe for indoor use

The LAPD is an organization of approximately 13,000 sworn and civilian employees. The City of Los Angeles is 468 square miles operating the third-largest municipal police department in the United States which serves an estimated population of over 4 million people.

Starline Brass Now Offering 7.65 French Long Brass

SEDALIA, MO – Starline Brass has added another caliber, the 7.65 French Long to the growing line-up of high-quality brass. Starline’s new 7.65 French Long brass is produced with the same demanding quality control standards for which Starline has become known.

The 7.65 French Long was originally developed in the United States as the .30 Pedersen for use in the Pedersen Device, which was a conversion for the 1903 Springfield to quickly turn it into a blowback operated semi-auto rifle with a higher capacity magazine to increase firepower when necessary. With intentions of using the Pedersen device in WWI, production was halted as the war ended before any of the devices saw the battlefield. With the war over and no use for the surplus of Pedersen devices, almost all were ordered to be destroyed.

Years later, the French were looking for a new sidearm and the 1935A pistol fit the bill. The 1935A and 1935S pistols, along with the MAS Model 38 submachine gun were chambered for the .30 Pedersen, now renamed 7.65 Long. This .30 caliber cartridge is quite a bit more powerful than the .32 ACP and is capable of firing projectiles as heavy as 100 grains.

SAF: Philly Shootout Another “Dismal Failure” of Gun Control

BELLEVUE, WA – Wednesday’s shootout in Philadelphia that left six of that city’s courageous police officers injured stands as yet another example of the failure of gun control because the suspect in this case has been identified as having a lengthy criminal background that precluded him from possessing firearms, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

“The suspect in Philadelphia has done time for drug and gun law violations, and other crimes,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “He’s a walking example of gun control failure and considering his background, we’re wondering why he was even on the streets. His presence in the community underscores the argument for judicial reform, and his ability to obtain firearms shows once again that gun control laws do not prevent determined criminals from getting their hands on guns.”

News reports say the suspect had an AR15 rifle and several handguns. Gottlieb noted that millions of honest citizens have such firearms, which were not designed for the military, and they have harmed nobody. Indeed, he added, private citizens have used such rifles to defend themselves and others from harm.

There was the case in Sutherland Springs, Texas where a private citizen used an AR15 to shoot a crazed mass killer who had opened fire in a nearby church, Gottlieb recalled. In a different case, an Oklahoma man used an AR15 to fatally shoot three home intruders. Last year in Colorado, he continued, a retired Alabama man camping in the Pike National Forest used two AR15 rifles to stop the suspect in a shooting spree.

“Law-abiding citizens use semi-auto rifles for all kinds of purposes, including self-defense,” Gottlieb said. “However, instead of admitting that their gun control laws have failed, politicians try to exploit cases like Philadelphia to demand more gun laws that also won’t work because criminals don’t obey the law.

“You do not prevent criminals from having guns by disarming their intended victims,” he explained about gun control laws. “But that’s the nature of gun control. It penalizes the good guys and doesn’t stop the bad guys.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

News and Information Aug. 9, 2019

This week on High Caliber Radio we will talk about active shooter events and the tactics and mind set required to counter such a threat.  We will also examine the Czech VZ61 Scorpion Machine pistol and the Walther P1/P38.  We will take a hard look at the attempt by the Communists in Congress to strip away our gun rights and our right to due process via Red Flag laws.

White House Reaches Out for Pro 2A Input

The Outdoor Wire Digital Network has confirmed that the White House has reached out to Second Amendment Foundation and The Citizen’s Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) chairman Alan Gottlieb to discuss the “current debate over recent mass shootings.” Gottlieb confirmed the conversations, saying “we talked about everything from background checks to banning semi-automatic firearms and magazines to red flag laws”

“We went,” he said, “through everything that’s been proposed.

According to Gottlieb, the administration appeared receptive to possible ways existing proposals could be changed to address 2A supporters’ concerns.

“It was a very good, positive conversation,” he said, “They want to address the problems of violence in our society and at the same time protect Second Amendment rights- without doing just lip service or symbolism. They’re looking for proposals that could work and not eradicate people’s freedom.”

“I’m glad they reached out,” he said, “they want to find solutions to these violent acts in ways that do not attack Second Amendment rights. They know opponents of gun rights are not friends of the administration or the Constitution.”

“They understand the issue well, and know how important gun owners are to the 2020 election results.”

Gottlieb says he considered the questions “really good,” with a special interest in “what the gun rights community could support, and what it couldn’t support.”

While Gottlieb was encouraged at the conversations, he reminded us that “politicians are sensitive to public opinion polls, and the public wants to pass something even after admitting it would not stop mass murders.”

THE ACTIVE SHOOTER IS EITHER WEARING ARMOR OR A BOMB VEST
With the information we received from Istanbul, Turkey and Jakarta, Indonesia, as well the inevitability of that happening here as the American Jihadists increase their skills and operational tempo, I developed the “Istanbul Drill”.
The Istanbul Drill teaches us to shoot for the face and neck area to quickly terminate the active shooter/terrorist, as well as to follow up the downed terrorist with additional face and neck shots to insure the result. As well, to prevent him from setting off an explosive device.
Set up two targets. One standing…one already on the deck.
  • Draw and fire a burst of five at the standing target…in the face of course.
  • Instantly transition to the downed target (representing the same guy – now fallen), and put an additional burst of shots into his downed face.
This is NOT a “street self defense against a mugger” technique. This is reserved for Active Shooter/Terrorist Events where the bad guy is quite likely to be wearing a bomb vest. You can argue against it if you wish, but you either accept or not accept the information coming out on the various events as well as what ISIS is admonishing its operatives to do.
If in an active shooter event, you should assume unless otherwise proven, the the bad guy is equipped with an IED. In these instances, the normal rules don’t apply.
In an event such as this, because of the terrorist’s already expressed level of violence, you can use extremely violent and even cruel methods to kill the terrorist. Methods that would otherwise not be condoned in a common street self defense situation. This is not the same situation and the commonly accepted limits to the use of deadly force are not there.
If you need to get past him to exit (or go kill another terrorist), keep shooting the downed terrorist in the face-head area as you approach and as you pass him by. The notion of handling a terrorist as if it was a thug with a tire iron in the parking lot, with those same concerns in mind, is asinine, and those advocating such things irresponsibly out of touch with modern reality…or have another agenda.
We live in a time of war, and the terrorist is the enemy.
Train and act accordingly.

GETTING TO THE SHOT – PART 1
Today on my forum, warriortalk.com, a member commented in incredulity on the El Paso shooting. That a place like Texas, with so many CCW licensees, and likely many in the Walmart being covertly armed, that nobody shot the gunman. The same could be said of any mass shooting that takes place in any state where CCW is prolific. A great question.
Here is what I think.
1). Most people, whether police or private citizens, have a trained aversion to kill and will do everything possible to not engage. The guys that interdict active shooters are outliers in society. When most people on scene are of the violence-avoidance types, they will most likely not engage the shooter. See my prior articles on Fear Aggression , and The Predator Mind.
2). The information flow is always the same, but many will not be able to process it fast enough to act upon it. A great deal has to do with proximity, but also what the individual’s perception of events is. The man on scene receives information first hand but may or may not understand it.
Were those shots?
Why are people running?
Where is the shooter?
What does he look like?
What can I do?
What will I do?
The more internal debate that takes place, the more one will talk themselves out of action and into submission or flight. And CCW folk are nothing special. They are everyday average people that happen to have a pistol with them, but their self-identity is no different from the fleeing masses of victims. Running to cover with everyone else and allowing someone “more qualified” is far more comfortable than doing the opposite of the herd, and I expect many will take the easy way out. And they likely have already prepared a myriad of “reasonable” excuses to justify themselves.
The flow of information for police may be different as they are receiving justification data on the radio. But at the risk of being labelled anti-police, I saw the same thing when I was on the job. Officers who had the shot, were justified ten times over, but failed to act. Society has not changed and police that come from that society will not be very different.
The officers that speed to the scene to kill the gunman are outliers in their field and likely passing by other officers that are somehow not moving as fast…or not taking the same direct route to contact…or are waylaid by victims and other things not directly involved in killing the gunman. That is human nature. Sometimes we get a perfect confluence of events with the outlier officer and the gunman and he is eliminated in minutes. Other times we get debacles like Broward County and Thousand Oaks. In my opinion, the conclusion will depend on who arrives on scene in time to act.
But what of the guys that are not already soul-snatching meat eaters, but want to be? Becoming that is not difficult if the will is there to do so.
First is understanding what you want to be and do. What is your self image? Are you just another armed but helpless victim, or are you the one that will interdict the active shooter? How do you see yourself? Decide now and engrave that deep in your mind. The rest will follow easily.

Presidential Message on National Shooting Sports Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, on the first day of National Shooting Sports Month®, The White House issued a Presidential message to the nation on the importance and tradition of the shooting sports in America. This annual 31-day celebration, developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation®(NSSF®) in 2017, reminds people that everyone can enjoy these safe, fun and social activities. It’s also the perfect time for an experienced shooter to mentor a newcomer in a sport that can provide a lifetime of enjoyment at every skill level.

From The White House:

Presidential Message on National Shooting Sports Month, 2019

During National Shooting Sports Month, we celebrate the cherished tradition of recreational and sport shooting activities. Shooting sports bring people together and instill comradery among a significant portion of its fellow enthusiasts. The vibrant shooting sport culture is made possible, in large part, by our steadfast protection of one of our bedrock and most-cherished liberties, the right to keep and bear arms.

Americans have a long history of participating in recreational and sport shooting activities. Early sharpshooters participated in matches to entertain family and friends and test their skills for a prize. During the turn of the 18th century, these competitions grew in popularity and legends like Buffalo Bill Cody and Annie Oakley began to enthrall audiences around the world. Today, talented Americans rigorously train for worldwide competitions, including the Olympic and Paralympics Games. Whether amateur or professional, shooting sport athletes possess the traits that characterize the best of our Nation — they are disciplined, determined, passionate, and confident.

As President, the safety of the American people is my top priority, and I want to ensure that those participating in shooting sports — one of our Nation’s greatest traditions — have the proper facilities to learn how to operate a firearm responsibly. That is why I was proud, earlier this year, to sign into law H.R. 1222, the Target Practice and Marksmanship Training Support Act. This important legislation will support State wildlife management agencies as they construct or expand shooting ranges, providing more opportunities for citizens to safely and properly learn marksmanship skills. My Administration has also expanded access to America’s public lands, opening millions of acres for use, including by hunters and recreational shooters. And, in June, my Administration announced a plan to open an additional 1.4 million acres in national wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries to new or expanded hunting, fishing, and recreational opportunities. These actions will help ensure a perpetual investment in wildlife and habitat conservation, foster responsible stewardship, and increase interest in shooting sports for current and future generations.

As we celebrate this National Shooting Sports Month, I encourage all those participating in recreational and sport shooting activities to continue to learn from this tradition and to promote a culture of safety and responsibility.

National Shooting Sports Month has been growing steadily since its inception three years ago. This year’s celebration includes more than 2,000 events at ranges and retailers across the country — a new record! — and all-new Gearbox Giveaway drawings for some stellar prize packs. Experienced shooters will also discover how they can give the shooting sports a boost when they mentor someone new as part of NSSF’s nationwide +ONESM Movement.

“When you take someone to the shooting range, whether a newcomer or an experienced shooter, youth or adult, you’re going to have a good time,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail & Range Business Development. “Whether it’s breaking clay targets, knocking down steel plates or shooting long distance, the shooting sports are exciting, safe and social. A day at the range is a day making memories.”

The information hub for National Shooting Sports Month and its numerous Gearbox Giveaways is LetsGoShooting.org. There you can learn information about dozens of target-shooting sports involving rifle, shotgun and handgun either in a recreational or competitive format. You’ll also find the shooting ranges and firearms retailers near you, learn about National Shooting Sports Month events in your state, enter the Gearbox Giveaways, print targets, watch instructional videos and learn how to safely handle and store firearms.

For those taking the +ONE Pledge and mentoring someone new, our Range Safety and Etiquette video is a great way to kick off that first visit to a range for both. “Extend that invitation,” encouraged Snow. “You’ll be glad you did.”

Don’t have a mentor? No problem. Shooting ranges work with newcomers all the time and can help you get started with safe, supervised instruction.

Snow encourages the use of the hashtag #LetsGoShooting on social media, saying, “Sharing your experience reminds others of what they’re missing and encourages them to spend a day at the range,” said Snow. “It’s going to be a great month, and we want to know how everyone is celebrating.”

Dan Wesson Tactical Compact Pistol

The New Dan Wesson Tactical Compact Pistol

Great Conceal-ability and Superior Accuracy in a Nimble 1911

Kansas City, KS – Combining a match-grade bull barrel and their new railed, alloy frame, the new Dan Wesson Tactical Compact Pistol (DW TCP) delivers that sweet combination of conceal-ability and shoot-ability. It’s an all-day-carry handgun for those who prefer the 1911 platform and demand great accuracy in a carry pistol.

The DW TCP features a compact, stainless steel slide that is beveled in a tri-top design, creating a smoother profile for easy, snag-free holstering and drawing. Aggressive slide serrations make loading and unloading the DW TCP a pleasure.

A top rib on the DW TCP slide helps reduce glare, plus it features Dan Wesson’s new U-notch rear sight with a whopping .156-inch-wide notch. Paired with a brass-beaded front sight, this sight combination puts a shooter eyes on target fast.

For superior accuracy, the DW TCP sports a four-inch-long bull barrel. The barrel features a 30-degree crown and is flush cut for easier disassembly. There’s also a tactical rail under the barrel so a light or laser can be attached.

The TCP’s grips are also new from Dan Wesson, with a tapered profile that is slim at the top and full-width at the bottom, giving shooters with smaller hands an easier reach to the trigger. With three facets that mimic the distinctive slide, the serrated features on the grip encourage a high, deep grip, as does the undercut trigger guard.

The grip frame on the TCP, by the way, is full-sized, providing a very stable platform for a shooter’s hands.

With a similar recoil system to the Dan Wesson ECO pistol, the DW TCP features a flat-wire recoil spring rated for 15,000 rounds–three times the round count of a typical 1911 dual recoil spring set up!
The Dan Wesson one-piece magwell, flat K-style trigger, and square hammer round out the TCP’s features, while the complete pistol tips the scales at just 32 ounces.

Available in 9mm Luger, 45 ACP, and done in a Black Duty finish, the DW TCP is at home in a carry holster, on a nightstand or at the range. The Dan Wesson guarantee of quality means the TCP will be on the job and ready for years to come.

Unique CZ 75B Pistol Fundraiser for Czech 1st Responder Charities

Kansas City, KS – To honor Independent Czechoslovakia’s 100th Anniversary, ?eská zbrojovka, the parent company of CZ-USA, made and donated a special edition CZ 75 B pistol to a charitable auction held in May 2019. The CZ 75 Republika was one of many items auctioned off at the Zofín Palace in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

The high bid for the pistol exceeded 500,000 Czech crowns or approximately $41,500 US. All proceeds from the pistol auction were donated to charities representing Czech soldiers, police, and firemen.

“The results of this auction exceeded all our expectations,” said President of the CZ Group SE holding, Ing. Lubomír Kova?ík, MBA. “The proceeds will be divided between the Military Solidarity Fund and the Police and Fire Service Foundation. We are very happy to lend our support to those people who serve the citizens of Czechoslovakia so very well and so tirelessly.”

The special CZ 75 Republika was the first of the limited edition of one hundred, which made it even more valuable. The owner of Prague’s Gallery Kodl, PhDr. Martin Kodl, organized the charity auction.

Based on an all-steel CZ-75B SA/DA, the CZ 75 Republika’s frame and slide were first blued and then polished to a high gloss. Next, the frame and slide outlines were inlaid with 24-carat gold. Inside the gold outline, craftsmen engraved a linden branch, an important national symbol in Czechoslovakia.

The CZ 75 Republika’s magazine release, hammer, trigger, and safety were also plated in 24-carat gold, as well as the extractor and the grip panel screws. On the right side of the frame, a small coat of arms used by the Czech Republic between 1920 and 1928 was engraved and inlaid with gold.

The left side of the pistol’s frame featured the inscription Pravda Vitezi or “truth prevails,” a saying present on the Czech presidential standard, and the two-line text (in Czech), “Made in the Czech Republic in the edition of 100 models.”

Originally designed in 1975, the CZ 75 B is among the world’s most iconic handguns. With over 1 million models produced, the CZ 75 is also the flagship model of the CZ handgun line. In fact, an entire family of pistols is available based on the basic CZ 75 design: compacts, decockers, single action only, ambidextrous, alloy frames and competition pistols.

The CZ 75 B features a steel frame, a black polycoat finish, 3 dot sights, 16+1 9mm capacity and, of course, the ergonomics and DA/SA action that have made it the most copied handgun design second only to the 1911.

Since 1997, CZ-USA has given American shooters and hunters the best firearms the Czech Republic has to offer. In 2019, we completed yet another milestone by producing CZ firearms here in the United States at CZ-USA’s Kansas City, Kansas, facility. With our ever-increasing production capabilities stateside, CZ-USA will continue to improve, innovate, and add to the CZ-USA line-up of high-quality, affordable handguns, rifles, shotguns, and suppressors, plus custom-quality handguns from Dan Wesson.

Starline Brass Now Offering .350 Legend Brass

SEDALIA, MO – Starline Brass has added another rifle caliber, the .350 Legend to their growing line-up of high-quality rifle brass. Starline’s new .350 Legend rifle brass is produced with the same demanding quality control standards for which Starline has become known.

Introduced by Winchester and approved by SAAMI in January of 2019, the .350 Legend is a brand new cartridge that has no parent case. This tapered case has a rebated rim allowing it to utilize the standard .223 bolt face found on many common rifles including the AR-15. This cartridge’s allure is that it can be used for hunting in several states that allow straightwall rifle cartridges only, but doesn’t have near the recoil of other AR cartridges that fill this niche. Utilizing .355” diameter bullets, the .350 Legend is capable of impressive ballistics, without a lot of recoil.

To order Starline’s rifle cases please visit a dealer near you or order factory direct online at www.starlinebrass.com.

USCCA Sponsors “National Train A Teacher Day”

USCCA Sponsors “National Train A Teacher Day” This Saturday

Nationwide Training & Education Campaign Aims to Help Teachers Better Protect Schools & Students Ahead of the New School Year

West Bend, WI – This Saturday, July 20th is the second annual “National Train a Teacher Day” (NTATD) in which thousands of school teachers and administrators across the country will be offered free self-defense training by Certified Instructors and Training Counselors. The United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), which provides education, training and self-defense protection to more than 300,000 responsible American gun owners across the country, is an official sponsor of this national event which aims to empower educators across the country with the training and tools they need to defend themselves in the case of a criminal attack.

·To learn more about National Train a Teacher Day, please visit: http://nationaltrainateacherday.com/index.html

·If you are a member of the media who would like to attend and report on a training class in your area, please contact the USCCA at press@uscca.com

National Train a Teacher Day is a nationwide effort to empower and educate those who are charged with the safety and education of our Children. The USCCA and many others believe the solution to evil acts of violence is found through education, empowerment, the elimination of “gun free zones,” and the free exercise of the rights and liberties of law-abiding Americans.

Each day, more states and school districts are allowing teachers and administrators to exercise their Rights and carry firearms on school campuses to better protect the students in their charge. In Florida, for example, expansion of the armed teacher program was one of several recommendations made by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, which was commissioned after the tragic mass shooting in Parkland in February 2018.

“All too often we see evildoers targeting schools precisely because they know the innocent people inside are often unable to protect themselves,” USCCA President and Founder Tim Schmidt said. “By sponsoring National Train a Teacher Day and providing educational materials to educators, administrators and students, we hope to help change the current status quo and prevent these tragedies from happening in the future. We are proud to sponsor this worthy effort and look forward to continuing the work to ensure our children are protected in the classroom.”

SAF: Prohibitionists Re-Packaging Gun Control as Public Health Crisis

BELLEVUE, WA – The billionaire-supported gun prohibition movement has re-packaged its gun control agenda as a public health crisis, trying to convince the public that the cure to violent crime is to amputate the Second Amendment from the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment Foundation said today.

“They couldn’t sell gun control as crime control,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “Then they couldn’t sell gun control as gun safety. Now they’re trying to convince the public that gun ownership is a public health issue.

“But this isn’t about public health,” he added. “This is all about politics. They’ve repackaged their agenda, but it’s the same old snake oil in a different bottle, and their strategy is right out of the gun control playbook.”

SAF, which hosts Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership as one of its priority projects, said the public should be alarmed at this campaign to equate gun ownership to a communicable disease. The SAF/DRGO project is a counter to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and its Center for Gun Policy and Research. Billionaire anti-gun-rights former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has reportedly donated $2.9 billion to the university over the years.

“What will they do next,” Gottlieb wondered, “attack freedom of speech as a mental health problem if someone openly disagrees with their crusade for public disarmament?

“For the health community to suggest that gun ownership is a public health problem amounts to medical malpractice,” he observed. “And by the way, medical malpractice kills a lot more people than firearms.”

Gottlieb’s warning comes as the Board of Health in King County, Washington is conducting a so-called “gun violence prevention summit” that doesn’t include a single representative from the firearms community. There is no input from firearms retailers, gun range operators or firearms instructors; not a single genuine gun safety expert.

“If there is a national crisis,” Gottlieb said, “trampling the rights of millions of healthy gun owners is not the cure. Demonizing guns and gun owners amounts to practicing voodoo during brain surgery. You’ll make a lot of noise and get plenty of attention, but the patient dies.”

The intuitive 3-point takedown requires no trigger pull for disassembly, and safety features include a striker safety, disconnect safety, and optional manual safety.

“SIG SAUER is honored to earn the trust of the men and women of the Milwaukee Police Department through their selection of the SIG SAUER P320 Pistol as their official duty pistol,” added Tom Jankiewicz, Executive Vice President, Law Enforcement Sales, SIG SAUER Inc. “The unprecedented modularity of the P320 will serve this large department, with a diverse group of officers, well into the future, and we look forward to developing a long partnership with the Milwaukee Police Department.”

CCRKBA LAUDS REP. MASSIE’S EFFORT TO REPEAL GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONE ACT

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today lauded Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie for reintroducing legislation aimed at repealing the Gun-Free School Zones Act and replacing it with the far more sensible Safe Students Act.

“The Gun-Free School Zones Act was passed by Congress in 1990, and it’s been a disaster,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “It has not prevented a single tragic school shooting, but instead has given students, teachers, administrators and parents a false sense of security that evaporates the moment some madman ignores the law and invades a school campus to commit mayhem.

“By declaring schools to be ‘gun-free,’ the law has simply turned schools into risk-free, target-rich environments for disturbed people willing to harm innocent children and teens,” he continued.

But Massie’s effort, which follows similar attempts in 2017 and 2018, is a common sense approach to a serious problem. It would allow teachers to carry firearms for self-defense and the defense of students in emergencies. As the congressman noted in a news release, “Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.”

Joining Massie as sponsors of H.R. 3200 are Republican Congressmen Justin Amash (MI), Jody Hice (GA), Jeff Duncan (SC), Matt Gaetz (FL), Louie Gohmert and Brian Babin (TX) and fellow Kentuckian James Comer.

“History has tragically demonstrated that the Gun-Free School Zones Act, which was sponsored by then-Senator Joe Biden, has failed miserably to accomplish its purpose,” Gottlieb stated. “It was a stupid idea then, and it has become a dangerous policy today. The law’s supporters are simply too vain and stubborn to admit they were wrong.

“The time has come to trash this ineffective mandate and make the nation’s schools safe again by allowing teachers and administrators the means to fight back in an emergency,” Gottlieb concluded.

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org.

Galco VHS 3.0

The New & Improved VHS 3.0™ Shoulder Holster System
Galco’s original VHS™ (Vertical Holster System) was field-proven across the globe from Afghanistan to America. Thousands were used by US military personnel fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Countless others are in use by US and international law enforcement, being particularly popular among police helicopter pilots. The VHS also provides an alternative for those who want the concealment of Galco’s Miami Classic but prefer the traditional vertical carry style.

Now, after over a decade of experience with the VHS, Galco has improved it further. The VHS 3.0™brings a reshaping/redesign of the harness straps, replacement of harness screws with a key-hole harness fastener attachment, and the addition of an innovative new tie-down system.

A key component of the VHS 3.0 shoulder system is its spider harness. All four points of the spider harness can pivot independently and are connected by our clover-shaped, trademarked Flexalon™ swivel back plate. This, along with our patented swivel connectors, results in a perfect fit and lasting comfort for virtually all body sizes and shapes.

The wide harness straps on the VHS 3.0 have been recontoured to enhance both comfort and concealment. The VHS 3.0 also features Galco’s improved key-hole harness fastener system that replaces the earlier screw-and-post system, resulting in greater security, ease of assembly, and greatly reduced chance of fastener loss.

The VHS 3.0 also introduces a new tie-down system that is simple to use, compact and concealable, and fully ambidextrous.

The VHS 3.0 comes complete with vertical holster, harness, ammo carrier, tie-downs and a set of harness fasteners. Fully modular, optional accessories and components for the VHS 3.0 may be purchased separately.

Whether you patrol the perilous sands of the Middle East, metropolitan America on the ground or from the air, exercise your Second Amendment right to bear arms, or stalk the hunting fields of the world, the VHS 3.0 will help you and your handgun stay secure in an often-dangerous world.

Made for semiautomatic pistols, with double-action revolver fits forthcoming, the VHS 3.0 is ambidextrous and available in tan or black finish.

SIG SAUER Modular Handgun System Receives Full-Material Release from U.S. Army

NEWINGTON, N.H. – SIG SAUER, Inc. in conjunction with Winchester Ammunition, is proud to announce the SIG SAUER Modular Handgun System (MHS) has officially received notification of Full-Material Release (FMR) from the U.S. Army Program Executive Office Soldier, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. MHS is collectively comprised of the SIG SAUER M17 Full-Size, and M18 Compact handguns, and Winchester Ammunition M1152 Ball, M1153 Special Purpose, and M1156 Drilled Dummy Inert.

Full-Material Release is a significant milestone for the MHS program and is the official determination that the U.S. Army has rigorously tested and evaluated the M17 and M18 handguns, and associated ammunition, to determine it as safe for use when operated within its stated parameters. The official FMR notification received by SIG SAUER on June 27, 2019 states that MHS has been fully tested, meets all operational performance requirements, and is logistically supportable within the environment it is intended to operate.

Ron Cohen, President & CEO, SIG SAUER, Inc. began, “the Army’s announcement of Full Material Release is the final stamp of approval for the MHS Program, and a true testament to the successful collaboration of the U.S. Army, SIG SAUER, and Winchester Ammunition to deliver the highest quality MHS program to our soldiers in the field. The FMR notification really highlights the safety and quality of the M17 and M18 handguns, and the success of the MHS program in its entirety.”

To date, over 59,000 Modular Handguns have been delivered by SIG SAUER, and over 44,000,000 rounds of ammunition delivered by Winchester Ammunition to the Government for MHS; in the next 5-7 years an additional 350,000 handguns and 100,000,000 rounds of ammunition are scheduled for delivery.

“We are enthused by this announcement, and honored to have all the branches of the U.S. Military participating in the MHS program. These are both important and significant steps to ensuring that MHS, the M17 and M18 handguns, and Winchester Ammunition will serve the U.S. Military well into the future,” concluded Cohen.

The M17 and M18 handguns are 9mm, striker-fired handguns featuring coyote-tan PVD coated stainless steel slides with black controls and utilize both 17-round and 21-round magazines. The handguns are equipped with SIGLITE front night sights, removable night sight rear plates, and manual safeties.

Robert Reese, Founder of Springfield Armory, Passes at 87

GENESEO, ILL. – Robert R. Reese, 87, of Geneseo, Illinois, iconic founder of Springfield Armory, passed peacefully Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Robert Rost Reese was born June 27, 1931, in Moline, Illinois, to Thomas William and Ruby Rose (Rost) Reese. Bob married Carol Schillinger on June 25, 1952, in Geneseo, Illinois, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard at Camp Cooke in Santa Barbara County, California. Upon discharge from the Army, Bob and Carol returned to the Midwest where he began farming in Henry County, Illinois with his father. In addition to farming, Bob had several other occupations. He was an agriculture equipment salesman in Tipton, Iowa, a real estate developer in Hanna Township, and a dealer of Army surplus with a store in Geneseo.

In 1974, Bob resurrected the “Springfield Armory” name, and in doing so, preserved iconic and historically significant firearm designs such as the M1 Garand, the US M14, and the 1911 pistol. Bob, his wife, Carol, and their son, Dennis, were the first employees in this next chapter of the legendary Springfield Armory. They were joined by sons Dave and Tom, and together the Reese family grew the business to be a global force in the firearms industry.

Bob was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and racing dirt bikes, but his greatest passion was in all things related to firearms and shooting. He was an avid competitive shooter, hunter, and fisherman, who pursued those interests together with Carol all over the world. He hunted big game well into his late 70s, traveling to such places as Mongolia, Azerbaijan, the Amazon, Alaska, Africa, and everywhere in between.

Bob was a lifelong, committed advocate for the Second Amendment, who cherished its significance and lived his life guided by the principles of independence and personal responsibility. He loved trips to Camp Perry, exhibiting on Commercial Row and supporting the Highpower Rifle Championships and Bullseye Pistol Championships, an annual tradition that began only months after founding Springfield Armory in 1974. Bob was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and has several firearms patents to his name. At the young age of 17, he became the North American Junior Trapshooting champion.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis J. and Jane Reese of Geneseo, David R, and Colleen Reese of Colona, and Thomas William and Jane Reese of Geneseo; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Stefany and Chris Toomer, Nicholas Reese, Robert and Bethany Reese, Jon Reese, Kelly and Houston Holt, Carolyn and John Kozlik, and Thomas William Reese; and two great-grandchildren, Ruby Grace Holt and Eli Joseph Reese. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Kleeman.

Bob’s family invites friends to share stories and condolences at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.

Lipsey’s Exclusive, Vickers Tactical Edition GLOCK 43

Baton Rouge, La.—Lipsey’s, a nationally renowned firearms distributor, and combat veteran Larry Vickers, announce the official on-sale launch of the fifth iteration of the “Vickers GLOCK”.

Available immediately, the new Lipsey’s Exclusive, Vickers Tactical edition GLOCK 43 met a record crowd at the sneak peek Lipsey’s customer appreciation launch party at SHOT Show earlier this year. The excitement has built over the last several months as this edition is sure to be another hit in the series.

The compact, black GLOCK 43 is the reliable go-to choice for carry that thousands have adopted. Now a royal flush in the Lipsey’s Exclusive/Vickers Tactical GLOCK offering, Lipsey’s Vice President and Product Development Manager, Jason Cloessner, talks about what made this project so enticing. “The Vickers GLOCK series of guns are one of our most successful projects to date. SAF, ISRA Win As Illinois Appeals Court Dismisses Deerfield Appeal

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has posted yet another victory in Illinois, as the Second District Appellate Court has dismissed an attempt by the Village of Deerfield to challenge a permanent injunction against the community’s ban on so-called “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines.”

SAF was joined in the case by the Illinois State Rifle Association—it’s partner in the landmark 2010 U.S. Supreme Court victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago—on behalf of Deerfield resident Daniel Easterday. Deerfield’s appeal was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction, the court ruled.

The plaintiffs were represented by Glen Ellyn attorney David Sigale.

“This effectively shuts down any further effort by the Deerfield administration to encumber law-abiding citizens in the community who own the kinds of legal firearms city officials want to ban,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “We were delighted to once again be working with our good friends at the Illinois State Rifle Association. Together with David Sigale, we make a pretty good team.

“But this was always about much more than teamwork,” he continued. “We’re talking about the right of honest citizens to live without fear of suddenly being turned into criminals by an overzealous government that arbitrarily decides to prohibit possession of a perfectly legal firearm, purchased in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, because of political correctness.”

“Many thanks to Alan M Gottlieb, the Second Amendment Foundation, Illinois State Rifle Association, David Sigale, and all of the people that have supported me,” Easterday said in reaction to the court ruling.

The case had been consolidated with a separate challenge to the Deerfield ban.

“Constitutionally-protected rights cannot be subjected to the extremism of social justice crusades,” Gottlieb said. “It should take more than the mere stroke of a pen to criminalize something so much a part of the American fabric as the legal ownership and possession of firearms that are in common use.

“This is just one more chapter in SAF’s effort to win back firearms freedom, one lawsuit at a time,” he concluded.

Savage 110 High Country Rifle

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts –– Savage is excited to unveil the 110 High Country, a rifle that gives Western hunters the precision and power to take the biggest bulls and the longest shots. Shipments of these firearms have been delivered to dealers.

The 110 High Country is built to maximize accuracy with a spiral-fluted barrel and bolt, as well as the Model 110 action secured three-dimensionally along its entire length within the AccuStock internal chassis. The AccuFit system lets hunters customize length-of-pull and comb height of the TrueTimber Strata synthetic stock. Plus, the user-adjustable AccuTrigger offers a crisp, clean pull critical for making precise shots at extreme distances. The low-friction, coyote brown PVD coating on the barrel, receiver and other critical parts is harder than competing finishes and protects against corrosion and heat. BIG BANG, SMALL PACKAGE!
– THE PRO SERIES S MINI –
THE PERFECT HOME DEFENSE TOOL

Don’t take our word for it. See what Eric Nester from The Classic Woodsman has to say about it!

“The first range shots with the Black Aces Tactical Pro Series S Mini Firearm were the lightest loads I had on hand. The Federal Dove & Small Game loads were 2.75″ one ounce loads of #7.5 lead shot. I did not have high hopes that such a light load would function in a semi-automatic weapon. Loading up one shell in the chamber and three in the tubular magazine I blasted into the range backstop. All loads shot and extracted perfectly and the action locked open after the last shot. Impressed? Oh yes indeed.”
