Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA and founders of the MidwayUSA Foundation, have been chosen as the inaugural recipients of the 2024 Golden Bullseye America’s 1st Freedom Award from NRA Publication’s Official Journal America’s 1st Freedom. The award recognizes those who have distinguished themselves as standout defenders of our Second Amendment freedom in business, politics, and/or American culture.
“Supporting the NRA is a no-brainer for Brenda and me and MidwayUSA,” said Larry. “After all, they are the foremost guardian of the right to keep and bear arms. Every gun owner and every business in the shooting sports industry should support the NRA.”
This year’s award ceremony will be held at the 2024 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, May 17, 2024. Recipients of this award are defenders of our right to keep and bear arms, whether in the political arena, in Hollywood, in the media, or in business. These defenders do their work in such a positive way that they are instrumental in enhancing and, therefore, saving this precious freedom for future generations. It is to commend them for all they do and have done for our freedom.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Larry and Brenda Potterfield for more than 35 years,” said Doug Hamlin, Executive Director, NRA Publications. “As shooting and hunting enthusiasts themselves, their passion for everything in the shooting sports industry and the people who participate in the activities that have shaped American culture is unparalleled. Larry and Brenda are selfless and generous. Their long-standing support of the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) is most appreciated.”

The winners of NRA Publications’ 2024 Golden Bullseye Awards—now in their 22nd year—have been announced. The Golden Bullseye Awards recognize the firearm industry’s top products as voted on by NRA Publications’ staff editors. “Last year was one of massive new product introductions from the recreational shooting sports industry,” said NRA Publications’ Executive Director Doug Hamlin. “As a result, the NRA Publications editorial staff had some tough decisions to make to identify the best all new products.”
The awards are selected by the editorial staffs of four of NRA Publications’ properties through a rigorous evaluation process, and they are each reviewed by NRA Publications’ management. “Thank you to the dedicated NRA Publications editorial staffers who tested and evaluated hundreds of new products before making their 2024 Golden Bullseye selections,” said Hamlin.
The awards are presented by American Rifleman, “the World’s Oldest and Largest Firearm Authority,” NRA’s American Hunter magazine, the world’s largest circulation hunting magazine, NRA’s most contemporary Official Journal, Shooting Illustrated, as well as by NRA Publication’s fastest-growing web property, NRAWomen.com.
The Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award specifically honors outstanding personal achievement. The Pioneer Award spotlights the exemplary achievement and cumulative body of work of an individual, or members of a family, team or partnership, responsible for the development and introduction of shooting equipment that has made a profound, positive and enduring impact on the way Americans shoot and hunt.
Selected for the 2024 Pioneer Award is Brandon Maddox. “A heartfelt congratulations to Silencer Central founder and CEO Brandon Maddox on his Pioneer award recognition,” said Hamlin. “Brandon epitomizes the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in United States of America. He has really opened up the silencer new product category to the masses.”

Whatever the case, they are being commended for all they do and have done for our freedom.

2024 Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award Winner: Brandon Maddox, Founder/CEO Silencer Central
Brandon Maddox has revolutionized the suppressor industry in the United States in a mere 15 years. More so than any person since perhaps Hiram Maxim, the inventor of the modern suppressor, Maddox has changed the landscape of suppressor use and ownership. Maddox has mainstreamed the benefits of legal suppressor use for the American shooting public. A trained pharmacist originally from South Carolina, he moved to South Dakota, acquired a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and started a business selling suppressors, typically at gun shows. But you can only buy a suppressor from a dealer in your home state. So, potential customers from other states were slipping through his fingers. That sent Maddox on a course to make it as easy as possible for an authorized purchaser to buy a suppressor from his company, legally.
Thanks to NRA and its members, suppressor ownership is legal in 42 states, and Silencer Central has a representative in each one—allowing a suppressor to be shipped to the customer’s door. Getting a suppressor can be an intimidating process from the paperwork side, so Maddox set about simplifying it and demystifying how one actually purchases a suppressor. Maddox’s crew at Silencer Central walks customers through the process, assisting them with the fingerprints, photographs and submission of their paperwork. Silencer Central worked with the BATF to create an efficient electronic process for submitting the paperwork. When you meet Brandon Maddox, you can see that the spark of the guy on the other side of the gun show table is still there, backed by a solid business plan that has changed and made accessible an entire category.

Well, I may have been remiss in updating here but, quite honestly, there hasn’t been much real news in the gun world sinceBiden was allowed by the establishment to steal the election. If ever we have need the 2nd amendment, now is the time. The Usuper in Chief is introducing anti gun legislation that he and his marxist buddies intend to use to gut the 2nd Amendment. If we have been treated this shoddily by the ruling “elite” while we are heavily armed, what is it, we must ask, that they have planned for us after disarmament? I for one, do not intend to be disarmed by anyone. we have reached a cross roads in our nation’s history. we have seen the unmasked face of corruption and totalitarianism, lurking just below the surface of the swamp. We must stand ready to resist draconian policies that might be forced upon us. We will continue to keep you entertained and informed here on High Caliber Radio.
This week on High Caliber Radio we give you our evLUtion of the Rock Island XT .22 mag 1911. We also discuss the versatility of the the .357 magnum vs heavier revolver rounds as a do everything sidearm. We look at the ammo shortage and also new anti gun legislation that would set the stage for confiscation and other bad things.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has “paused publication” of its rule to ensure large banks provide all customers fair access to their services. The OCC proposed the rule in November to “codify more than a decade of OCC guidance that stating that banks should risk assessments of individual customers, rather than making broad-based decisions affecting whole categories or classes of customers, when providing access to services, capital and credit.” The firearms industry was one of those “classes” being denied services. “The first salvo in the gun control fight has begun and the Biden Administration has fired the first shot by improperly interfering in the affairs of the OCC which is an independent agency,” says the National Shooting Sport Foundation’s Senior Vice President and Counsel Larry Keane. New Red Dot Offers Exceptional Versatility at an Affordable Price
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – – Bushnell®, an industry leader in performance optics, announced today the introduction of a new reflex sight – the RXS-100. Designed with user-adjustable brightness settings and multi-platform versatility, the new RXS-100 offers outstanding value at an unheard-of price point.
The RXS-100 is compatible with optics ready pistols and is a desirable option for rifles, shotguns and other firearm models. At the core of the RXS-100 is a crisp 4-MOA Red with eight brightness settings and battery life that provides over 5,000 hours of runtime on the mid setting.
“With the introduction of the RXS-100, we are able to offer users a reliable, affordable reflex sight that has all of the features they requested for under $100,” said Derek Osburn, Director of Optics for Vista Outdoor. “The RXS-100 stands out from other red dots currently on the market by providing a clear, bright dot that has been designed to withstand the harsh recoil experienced when slide-mounted on pistols. We are excited to be able to bring this combination of quality and value to the reflex market and continue Bushnell’s long-standing legacy of purpose-built products.”
A perfect option for pistols, rifles and shotguns, the RXS-100 works across all common red dot mounts with a DeltaPoint® Pro footprint and weaver-style mounting options with the include riser. The new sight utilizes an energy efficient, point source LED to create a collimated beam for a clear, strong 4-MOA red dot. This key feature of the RXS-100 is uncommon in reflex sights at this price point which typically feature less expensive masked LED designs.
The RXS-100 also features a 12-hour auto-off timer to extend battery life. The side-loading battery is designed for easy replacement without removing the sight from the firearm, so zero is retained. Durability of the sight is accomplished by a rugged, aircraft-grade aluminum housing that keeps glass and electronic internal components protected against recoil, as well as rough field use. An oversized hood helps reduce glare and enhances lens durability against impact.
In addition, RXS-100 offers a convenient layout and design, including detented windage/elevation adjustments with 1 MOA per click and digital controls with push-button actuation for brightness setting adjustments. To maximize light transmission, RXS-100 has True Tone coatings that mitigate blue tint on the glass. Other items included with the red dot include basic mounting and adjustment tools, a protective form-fit cover, cleaning cloth and CR2032 battery.

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts –– Savage Arms is pleased to announce the creation of a dynamic new series of performance-driven rifles designed for the most rugged and demanding hunts: The Backcountry Xtreme Series. These rifles are purpose-built and define the top tier of the 110 hunting line. Though each is unique, they all embody the most functional refinements Savage builds into its bolt action designs. These 110s can do it all.
“The Model 110 has been evolving for more than six decades,” said Jessica Treglia, Sr. Brand Manager at Savage Arms. “That’s longer than any other bolt-action rifle in production. The new Backcountry Xtreme Series is building on this legacy. These rifles mark the apex of the 110’s incredible journey. These rifles are more capable than any 110’s we’ve ever built. They feature protective finishes, innovative product features, and the best of our patented technologies. These rifles have premium features added and can do it all. The Backcountry Xtreme Series shows what it means to be Savage.”
The extras that define the Backcountry Xtreme Series are all built on the tested foundations that make the 110 so successful. AccuTrigger™ allows users to set pull weights as low as 1.5 pounds. AccuStock™ provides the receiver with the solid bedding needed for repeat accuracy, and AccuFit™ allows for a tailored fit—without the need of a gunsmith.
With the official designation of the Backcountry Xtreme Series, Savage is launching two new Model 110s:
The 110 Ultralite Camo:
Savage teamed up with PROOF Research® to craft a 110 that comes in under 6 pounds. The carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel and melonite skeletonized receiver help minimize weight. This new Ultralite features a KUIU® Verde 2.0 camo for the ultimate concealment.
The 110 Timberline:
The 110 Timberline is built to maximize accuracy with a fluted barrel, overmold surfaces, target crown, and omni-port muzzlebrake. The Model 110 action is secured three-dimensionally along its entire length within the AccuStock internal chassis and AccuFit system lets hunters customize length-of-pull and comb height of the Realtree® Excape synthetic stock. The OD Green Cerakote® on the barrel, receiver and other critical parts protects against corrosion. It will be available in both left-handed and right-handed configurations.
The full line of Backcountry Xtreme rifles can be found here, and include these models:
110 Bear Hunter: A true heavy hitter designed for dependability.
110 Ridge Warrior: Take on targets one day, and trophies the next.
110 Timberline: Built to be concealed and to withstand the elements.

San Antonio, Texas – J. P. Sauer & Sohn, Germany’s oldest manufacturer of hunting firearms, is pleased to introduce the ultralight S101 Highland XTC carbon-fiber rifle. Weighing just 5.4 lbs. in the .308 Win version, this highly accurate bolt-action rifle is ideal for strenuous hunts when every ounce counts.
The S101 features a hand-laid, carbon-fiber stock with advanced recoil absorbing properties. Additional features include superb balance, a crisp match-grade trigger, fluted bolt, and Sauer’s Dura Safe direct firing pin safety which operates as an ergonomic slide on the bolt shroud for enhanced safety and optimum operation. Auburn, AL- – SAR USA by Sarsilmaz, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of firearms is pleased to announce introduction of the new SAR 9X Platinum striker-fired semi-automatic 9x19mm pistol.
“The SAR 9X Platinum’s DNA comes directly from the SAR 9 pistol which is one of the latest offerings from SAR USA,” said Todd Pearson, COO of SAR USA. “The SAR 9 was originally designed and engineered to compete on the world stage as a military sidearm, and to fill a military contract. Now we are offering the SAR 9 in the X Platinum package which includes Cerakote finished slide, paddle holster, double mag pouch, magazine loader and accessory flashlight. All are packaged in a handsome carrying case”.
The SAR 9X Platinum striker-fired pistol features a lightweight polymer frame with accessory rail, serrated slide with Cerakoteâ platinum finish and a 4.5″ hammer-forged barrel with recessed crown for increased accuracy. With a 3-dot sight optic-ready mount plus choice of three insertable back straps to personalize the fit, the 9X Platinum points naturally and is a pleasure to shoot. Its low barrel axis-to-grip ratio lessens muzzle climb, and the 20-degree grip angle provides superior control and fast second shot recovery… the accuracy is built in. Couple these features with an ambidextrous safety trigger that is smoother than a double-action revolver and the SAR 9X becomes the perfect carry-pistol when you want a round in the chamber.
The SAR 9X Platinum incorporates a unique safety trigger that features a tab safety in the center to prevent inertial discharges should the gun be dropped onto the rear of its slide. There is also a bright-red insert at the top that is visible from the side when the trigger is in the forward position. Labeled a “striker status indicator”, this enables the shooter to see, at a glance, whether the gun is cocked or not, even from a distance as long as the side of the trigger is visible. The SAR 9X Platinum comes standard with one 17rd. and one 19rd. magazine. For capacity restricted states 2-10rd mags

You’re receiving this because of interest expressed in my revolver work.
This week on High Caliber Radio we discussed deer rifles with low recoil. We also discuss handloading and bullet casting.
There has been a tremendous amount of voter fraud in this week’s presidential election. Check social media for videos showing all kinds of nefarious behavior. I pray that this situation will be peacefully rectified and all the legal ballots counted. Beware though, if one party takes over with coruption and fraud and we lose our ability to be represented at the ballot box, we will have but 2 choices: accept the tyranny and watch our freedom go down the memory hole or use our second amendment rights as our founding fathers intended, to defeat tyranny and restore freedom, law and order.
Rather than discuss this week’s gun related news and This weekend’s episode of High Caliber Radio, I would prefer to use this time to emplore you all to go out and vote for Donald Trump. I don;t care what your personal feelings for the man are. We have a clear cut choice to vote for freedom and liberty or vote for the tyranny of marxism. Biden is a puppet that will soon be swept aside to make room ffor the true believers, who, backed by Red China and George Soro’s will destroy the greatest country on earth. If you vote for Biden or you sit on your lazy ass and don’t vote, then you are selling your children and grandchildren down the river to tyranny the likes of which this continent has never seen. My father and grandfather oten said that they fought fascism and communism overseas because they didn’t want to have to fight it here. The fight is upon us, let’s do it at the ballot box so we don’t have to do it with the cartridge box.
This week on High Caliber Radio we will look at the aged ivory polymer grips offered by Boone’s Trading Company. We will also talk about the Kalashnikov weapon systems. we will further examine Joe Biden’s anti gun plans and look at his plan to get rid of modern sporting rifles. The below article came out in the shooting wire and I think we need to reprint it here as there are some major announcements.
