SIG SAUER Issues Voluntary Upgrade of P320 Pistol

P320 pistol meets requirements for industry and government safety standards; performance enhancements optimize function, safety, and reliability.

Newington, NH – The P320 meets U.S. standards for safety, including the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) / Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute, Inc. (SAAMI®), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), as well as rigorous testing protocols for global military and law enforcement agencies.

The design of the SIG SAUER P320 overcomes the most significant safety concern in striker-fired pistols today: the practice of pressing the trigger for disassembly. This can be performed with a round in the chamber which has resulted in numerous incidents of property damage, physical injury, and death. The disassembly process of the P320, however, uses a take-down lever rather than pressing the trigger, eliminating the possibility of discharge during the disassembly process.

Recent events indicate that dropping the P320 beyond U.S. standards for safety may cause an unintentional discharge.

As a result of input from law enforcement, government and military customers, SIG has developed a number of enhancements in function, reliability, and overall safety including drop performance. Mesa Tactical LEO Gen II Telescoping Stock for Beretta 1301

Reno, NV – Today Mesa Tactical began shipping the LEO® Gen II Telescoping Stock adapter and pistol grip system for the Beretta 1301 semi-automatic shotgun, made specifically with law enforcement in mind. The LEO Stock adapter system is designed to allow shooters the ability to fit AR style collapsible stocks and pistol grips onto their shotguns, while allowing use of open or bead sights. The versatile telescoping stock adapter system can be fitted with a standard AR-15 grip and telescoping stock, which enables tactical operators to instantly adjust the length of pull of the telescoping stock in order to accommodate differences in individual body sizes or use of body armor.

With Mesa Tactical’s telescoping stock systems, the shotgun’s factory stock is replaced by an investment cast aluminum adapter, to which standard AR-15 grips and telescoping buttstocks can be reliably attached. While the High-tube stock systems include a built-in Picatinny rail for sights or optics, LEO stock adapters provide a lower stock elevation allowing the use of iron sights or the front bead. All Mesa Tactical stock adapters incorporate multiple sling attachment methods.

The LEO Gen II Telescoping Stock Adapter for the Beretta 1301 semi-automatic shotgun is the first of Mesa Tactical’s “Generation II” LEO adapters. The LEO adapter’s second generation has been completely redesigned for increased comfort, superior handling and configuration versatility:

· The new adapter is slightly shorter and more compact than the earlier LEO adapters.
· The pistol grip has been angled forward several degrees, similar to the angle of an M1911 pistol grip, to provide more space for the webbing of the operator’s thumb above and behind the grip.

Go on any gun board and you’re sure to find someone lamenting the venerable 5.56mm round NATO forces currently use. They argue that the 5.56 round just doesn’t have enough punch to take down the bad guys, among other things ranging from somewhat sensible to outright bizarre.

A new solicitation from the U.S. Army for the Interim Combat Service Rifle is bound to give all those guys something to talk about for a while.

The Army has identified a potential gap in the capability of ground forces and infantry to penetrate body armor using existing ammunition. To address this operational need, the Army is looking for an Interim Combat Service Rifle (ICSR) that is capable of defeating emerging threats. The Government has a requirement to acquire a commercial 7.62mm ICSR to field with the M80A1 Enhanced Performance Round (EPR) to engage and defeat protected and unprotected threats. The ultimate objective of the program is to acquire and field a 7.62mm ICSR that will increase Soldier lethality.

The Government intends to award a maximum of eight (8) Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), procuring seven (7) weapons from each Offeror for test and evaluation purposes. The Government reserves the right to award less than eight (8) OTAs or to make no OTA awards. Offerors may submit more than one (1) proposal, however, each proposal must be separate and distinct from one another. Each proposal shall include a bid sample, proposal and system safety assessment report. Once the test and evaluation is concluded, the Government may award a single follow-on Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) based contract for the production of up to 50,000 weapons. This estimate is subject to change.

The primary concern appears to be enemy troops wearing body armor similar in ballistic properties to that worn by U.S. troops.

Requirements for the rifle over and above the need for being chambered in 7.62 NATO include being capable of accepting a suppressor, select fire capable, accurate out to 600 meters, folding iron sites, and the means to mount accessories such as a laser and weapon-mounted night vision.

The 7.62 fans shouldn’t get too excited, however. The solicitation states that this contract is for “up to 50,000 weapons.”

In other words, this isn’t likely to be a replacement for the standard 5.56-chambered weapons any time soon. 50,000 rifles sound like a lot, but considering the size of ground combat forces within the United States Army, the number of rifles would barely amount to a drop in the bucket of what would be needed to equip all U.S. infantry forces with a new weapon.

Instead, it seems likely that this weapon, should it be adopted formally, will be mixed in across the combat units likely to encounter armored foes. Of course, that doesn’t preclude the Army asking for more weapons down the road, nor the other branches placing orders of their own.

The solicitation may bring up questions over just who the military expects to combat that would be armored, seeing as how ISIS doesn’t seem to be using much in the way of body armor. Frankly, it doesn’t matter since this solicitation will give gun buffs throughout the internet a new topic to debate for month on end.

SAF ISSUES TRAVEL ADVISORY TO GUN OWNERS: ‘AVOID CALIFORNIA!’

BELLEVUE, WA – For the first time in its history, the Second Amendment Foundation today issued a “travel advisory” to firearms owners to avoid going to California, warning law-abiding armed citizens that their civil rights could be in jeopardy due to that state’s restrictive gun control laws.

“The California Legislature has been out of control for years when it comes to placing restrictions on the Second Amendment rights of honest citizens,” SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb observed. “Right now, I wouldn’t suggest to any gun owner that they even travel through the state, much less to it as their final destination.

“Lawmakers in Sacramento,” he continued, “either ignored or have forgotten that in 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court incorporated the Second Amendment to the states via the 14th Amendment in SAF’s landmark case of McDonald v. City of Chicago. The Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms applies to state and local governments, but they seem rather oblivious to that fact in the halls of California’s Legislature.”

Of particular concern to Gottlieb is the fact that California steadfastly refuses to recognize concealed carry licenses or permits from other states. The state’s restrictive laws literally leave residents and visitors defenseless.

“If you are licensed to carry in your home state,” he warned, “that license is not recognized in California. It doesn’t matter how many background checks you’ve gone through or whether you took a gun safety course. Your license is no good in the Golden State, which suggests that your safety and the safety of your family are of no concern to state lawmakers or city administrators. You could be prosecuted for having a gun for personal protection, or you might get killed because you didn’t.

“By not going to California,” Gottlieb said, “the life you save may be your own.”

Daisy’s Rocket Shot Target System

Steyr Arms Celebrates 40 Years of the AUG with Anniversary Edition STG 77

BESSEMER, Ala. (Aug. 7, 2017) — Designed in 1977 and introduced the following year, the legendary short-stroke, gas-piston-operated Steyr AUG was immediately adopted as the standard battle rifle of the Austrian Army under the StG.77 (Sturmgewehr 77) name. To commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the AUG, Steyr Arms has gone retro with the introduction of the STG 77 SA rifle, a limited-edition version that emulates the look, feel and operation of the original AUG.

The STG 77 is the first U.S.-built production AUG variant to come standard with a 20-inch barrel. The barrels are cold-hammer forged and profiled to the original 1977 specifications, and at the muzzle is a tulip-style brake with the original “hex” check nut. But the most noticeable feature of the STG 77 is the sleek, integrated, original-profile 1.5X scope, which has been much sought after by AUG purists in the U.S. This optic is extremely clear, sharp and bright, despite its smaller diameter. The scope features the popular circle-dot reticle, but unlike the original optic that required a special tool to adjust the windage and elevation, the STG 77 reticle can be adjusted with a coin. Integrated to the top of the scope housing is a set of three-dot post-and-notch backup sights.

In order to replicate the original AUG as closely as possible, Steyr designed the STG 77 without any rails; however, the scope can be removed and replaced with any of the five standard Steyr Picatinny rails currently available for the AUG A3 M1. The hard-anodized aluminum receiver is smooth on the right side, and on the left side is an A1 charging handle, complete with the forward-assist button at its top rear. Much like the original AUG that lacked the bolt release now standard on current versions, the STG 77 charging handle is used to overcome the internal bolt hold open on the A1 trigger pack.

Also in keeping with the original color scheme, the STG 77 features OD Green furniture with a stock that accepts Steyr’s proprietary translucent magazines. The Steyr “bullseye” logo is laser engraved on the right side of the stock along with “STG77 40th Anniversary.” One AUG 30-round magazine with a matching OD Green floorplate is included with each rifle. The few internal improvements that have been made to the AUG over the last 40 years, such as the upgraded firing pin parts, are included in the STG 77. The rifle also features a QD sling swivel on the front of the receiver, whereas the original sling swivel was pinned in place.

The first batch of the 40th Anniversary STG 77 rifles has already shipped to dealers and distributors, and Steyr is limiting rifle production only through the remainder of 2017. The suggested retail of the STG 77 SA is $2,625.
